I just started Ghostbusters last night. It really captures the fun and appeal that the 1st movie did. Turns out capturing ghosts is tough. The banter that goes on between Ackroyd,Ramis,Murray and Hudson is great. So far just a lot of lighthearted fun. Forgot to say I'm playing it on 360.BTW you can change the controller setup to be more lefthanded friendly. I know were the minority but, lefthanded people want to enjoy games too!
The other game I LOVE,LOVE,LOVE is Fable 2. I dig on games that submerse you into a world. The right way to play this game is play around in the world, not to just do the main quest. Otherwise I think you'll be very disappointed. The main quest is actually the least interesting thing about it. If you like Oblivion you'll like this.Lionhead learned by their mistakes from the 1st Fable for the most part. You know what I'm talking about if you played it.

With Sacred 2 for the Xbox 360. I am only 7 hours into and only covered 3.4 % of the map. With this being a top down RPG I think this will consume me for hours on end. Having 4 player co-op seems to be where it is at, but then again I have yet to try this feature out. I wasn't a looter, but with this game I think it has changed me. That and I bought the magical imp for 240 MS points to carry more stuff when raiding dungeons.
Really say this is one game if you have the time and love RPG's to at least rent this. Yes the controls will have you on a learning curve, but once you get it you will have loads of fun I think.

Just started The Darkness last night. Has a few bugs, but does a great job of building the world's atmosphere so far. One of the first games since Max Payne to do that for me. We'll see how the rest of the game pans out, but after 3 hours or so, I'm pretty engrossed.
Also playing Magic: the Gathering on Live. Still one of the great games of all time, and a well-handled rendition.
Played a bunch of Fable 2 as well recently. Tough call, that one. Personally, I've been having a ball with it, but I'm predominantly an explorer at heart, so the game's right up my alley. More goal-oriented friends have been pretty put off by the ending.
Playing a bit of Turbine's D&D Online beta too, but all that's under the beta NDA :)

For the past two days I have been playing Transformers: Revenge of the fallen (PS3) and will say don't buy. The game could be better in many ways. I just don't think activision did this game or the transformers any justice.
@KMack if you love exploring you should really try Sacred 2 for the 360. If you do try this game let me know since this game has loads of areas to explore.

inFamous has got me on the path of playing a Hero right now. I am only about half way through the game and just really great on how this game plays. There are some things I don't like, but then again it is not going to stop me from playing this game.

I played Disney's G-Force last night for my daughter and it was all right.
@Randall are you ready for Tales of Vespira to come to PS3? I was on my Japan account and played the Demo and it was good as the 360 version.

@Randall are you ready for Tales of Vespira to come to PS3? I was on my Japan account and played the Demo and it was good as the 360 version.
mmhh I never heard of, I saw some trailers now and I think it could be a good one for me once I finish Valkyrie Chronicles. But I'd need European version :(
ATC 1982
08-20-2009, 05:03 PM
@Randall - since PS3 accounts are free try to make a new user with the japanese region. It was the only way i found it so far. They are coming out with the different regions and I am not sure when Europe is getting theres. How ever it is just and easy way to see if you will enjoy the game before it hits your shores.
I have done this for other games even though i don't under stand the language that is written. However I have found out sometimes the games are all written in english sub titles for some strange reason even though it is from that region.

I tried the G-Force for my ps3 and was disappointed with it saying E for everyone as my four year old could not play it. It has a complex control scheme for ages 7 & up I believe. Other then that I also signed up for the RUSE 360 Beta.

Team Fortress 2 is a constant pick-up game for me, mostly for the odd maps like Wacky Races and Balloon Race that generally get people in a more casual mood. But it can be fun with the right group regardless of the map. I've also been playing around with the map-making tools but I've yet to get a good handle on Hammer- there's not a lot of solid documentation and a good number of the tools, textures, and objects require experience to get a good end result. And it's a lot of work to earn that experience.
Settlers 6 is a new one I picked up; I was a fan of the first two games but didn't get a chance to play anything past Settlers 2 Gold. I'm not as much into the combat aspects as I just enjoy the world-building elements, trying to build up a complex and balanced city that can sustain itself or operate in such a way as to make sure I can afford to purchase necessary materials from third parties.
Demigod is another one I have, picked up off Stardock's Impulse client. I've enjoyed Galactic Civilizations 2, and was eager to try out something under their label. It doesn't have quite the replayability I expected given the limited format, but it does offer something fairly unique in the third person strategic genre. Personal favorite would have to be Rook. Giant stomping golem thing that carries a huge hammer- after Warmachine and Hordes he just felt familiar.
Otherwise I've been a long-time subscriber to City of Heroes and I feel like I've really gotten my money's worth out of it with the constant updates and modifications. I don't play nearly as often as I used to, but after EVE, WoW, WAR, Auto Assault, Dungeon Runners, and a couple others I've likely forgotten, it's the only MMO that I've enjoyed in the long term. It might be the community, it might be the general atmosphere, or it might just be the ability to go back in and make a new character with a new power set combo and try things I've forgotten about. But I still send them money every month, so they're doing something right.

@ATC 1982 - thanks for the Sacred 2 recommendation - I had completely overlooked it. Was initially turned off by the middle-of-the-road metacritic score, but then looked at the score distribution & see a huge range including perfect scores. Tells me it's not for everybody, but for the right person, it's awesome. Sounds like my kind of game.
(That's one of the reasons why Scott and I work so well together in design - he's really into game systems, while I'm really into place, exploration, story, and character. Between the two of us, the designs get a lot of attention on both fronts.)
re: Little Big Planet: Loved that game - wish it had done better. Some of the player-created maps are just genius :)

@Kmack I love RPG games most of the time when I play. Then again Exploration on Sacred 2 is just time consuming by far. Did you play and pick up the DLC imp as well?
However I really been trying not to play as much till Sept 15th MUA 2 comes out and will be picking it up for the PS3. Just since my PS3 is the console i am using mostly right now.

I'll keep an eye out for that one when my download cap resets.
I've played plenty of demos recently that have been available on my PSN account and downloaded about 4 whole games (Trine, Crystal Crusaders and "Precipice of Darkness" 1 and 2) so I keep capping pretty quickly when my roommate downloads whole series of shows as well.

I finally got to play some Borderlands over the weekend and got to level 28 I think. Just amazing how the game plays when you have more then 1 person. Sorry for my lack of excitefulness, it has become addictive. I was playing Lair on the PS3 for a bit there, but it got too confusing for me. For now, I'm blaming it on my shitty TV (it's like 10 year old) and the somewhat dodgy controls (I'm not using the six-axis either, I knew THAT was going to bug me), so I've lost interest in that. Which is good since I can do my New Years Resolution of painting a WM army for Gencon Indy

Hope you have fun with White Knight Chronicles. I'm looking to get back into my PSP and play the numerous games i have on it, Particularly D&D Tactics and Final Fantasy Tactics. I lost interest in my PSP at one stage and just haven't gotten back into it.
I dislike the control of the PSP actually which is the most frustrating bit for me. I wanted to find an emulator that turns the PSP into a UMD drive, so to speak, so I could use the USB controller I have, but it's too out of date! *Shakes fist*

Demon's Souls owns me right now. Punishing game, but melée combat is fantastic.
Finally it has been released in Europe. One of the best games ever. Probably I won't play any other game (until Warmachine release, of course!)

I have only complete 5 campaign mission for now, but It is pretty nice. The campaign system is fun, with mission choose and army upgrades (with credits or research) and the animated interaction with NPC are interesting. Ther is also a little bonus in the spaceship's bar :D.

All this weekend I was playing a beta facebook game by microsoft and it was fun. Reminded me of Maple Story, but I can see myself playing it as it is an RPG of sorts.

The game is difficult in a enjoying way that makes you be careful about every decision (equipment, spells, weapons, armor, where to go next, how to confront an enemy, etc...), and rewards you for logical thinking (like, don't go to fight a large group of enemies even if you are 30 times better than them, because they are a group and can kill you).
There are simple design decisions that says you the type of game you're playing. There is no auto recover health, or auto recover mana, if you want your health up, use potions or some magic, or equip you with the few items that can health you. There is no map. There is no pause button, even (you press start and it seems to be in pause, but isn't, and enemy walking around can kill you while you change your equipment).
