I have been playing a number of games recently and thinking how each system would work with different types of games.
I recently have been playing " The Last Remnant" by Square Enix and the game system idea would lend itself very well to the concept of battle groups and armies.
The game is turn based with groups of soldiers lead by a leader to form squads. These squads are given orders every turn that allow them to act and the chosen targets. These groups can be mixed up and changed along with the leaders to form a great variety of fighting styles and attributes.
You start the game as a custom made warcaster. You start as a journeyman/apprentice to a warcaster that the story is based around.
As you develop as a warcaster, you receive a greater allowance of control points, which can be used to recruit other soldiers, leaders and warjacks into your army, as well as hire mercenaries. Jack Marshalls(or people who control jacks not wit htheir mind but with hand signals and wit hvoice commands) could also be introduced though a warjack would be more effective with a warcaster as they can "boost" its abilities.
While this is occurring you can help the different leaders you have recruited direct their emphasis for the different tech, skill or ability trees.
I would suggest everyone try "The Last Remnant" at least once. The story and tutorial can be a bit rough but the gameplay is usually pretty good though some touch-ups are needed.
I would like some feedback, questions and comments on this please!! Even if you haven't played the game.
